We went to the Miyagi Prefecture’s evacuation center for nursing care in the stricken area of the East Japan Earthquake 18 to 23 March. This picture is the evacuation center’s photo in the Higashimatsushima-cho. We accepted the new 100 refugee in this place and we practiced about health check, environment assessment, check of refugee’s medical prescription and assistance of physician. Tomorrow, we collaborated with the stricken area’s nursing association for making evacuations assessment in these area. Next day, we established the new medical treatment base with Hyogo Physician Association in this evacuation center at the coast area in Ishinomaki city. We intend to continue practicing for two months.

We had participants who came from China and Thailand.
They had lectures that included basic disaster nursing and care for vulnerable people in disaster.
They also had field tours on Hyogo emergency medical center,WHO-Kobe and Japanese Nursing Association, and so on.

I met the people who are not able to prepare in spite of they were suffered from this erathquake.
While the people who are able to prepare perfectly with the earthquake as a lesson.
”So as not to forget that fateful day”　is very important keyword for us.
In the exhibition booth, I enlightened the importance of preparedness in the disaster with the possibility of occurring to visitor as follows.
In spite of the congestion, many people talked to me about the recalled those days of earthquake occurring and their present days

We joined the Asia Pacific Emergency and Disaster Nursing network (APEDNN) 27 Sep to 2 Oct at the James Cook University at Cairns in Australia.
We talked about the Disaster mitigation Education for Junior High School Students in the Community as a part of Integrated Learning Course at APEDNN.

We finished the training course which is the development of coordinatoes for disaster nursing for Middle East and Asian Countries from 30 August to 2 October in 2009.
This is a consignment project by JICA Hyogo.

We carried out the assessment of participants using the disaster check tools for earthquakes and flood.
Participants reflected on their preparedness of disaster, they learned about it.

We practiced it in cooperation with the Hyogo nursing association and the Japan Sciety of disaster nursing.
We based on Kuzaki elementary school refuge in the Sayo-cho, we conducted the health survey to the victim houses in the Kouzuki area and the Sayo area.

Four teachers and ten students of Nursing Department, Tzu Chi University (from Taiwan) came to University of Hyogo. College of Nursing Art & Science, University of Hyogo member accompanied them visiting an elderly care home on the afternoon of 1st.
They visited School of Nursing in the morning and came to this research institute on the afternoon of 2nd.
We explained about our study domains, contents of Center of Excellence (COE) program that the education culture and sports ministry granted to us for disaster nursing study in 2003-2007, and the function as WHO collaboration center of disaster nursing. A dean of Tzu Chi University talked about the volunteer activities the university when Taiwan Earthquake occurred.
The meeting was valuable for us.
